by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 03 Set '12

03 Set '12

Cordiali saluti lo staff del Registro .it ======================================================================== To all Registrars, as previously announced during the months of June and July on this mailing list and as indicated in the relevant document "Main changes of the Technical Guidelines v1.4", published on May 11 2012 on the RAIN portal (https://rain.nic.it) in the Section "Documents/Regulations", starting from Monday September 11, the EPP server of the Registry will not accept "Login" requests containing the namespaces extepp-1.0 and extdom-1.0. These namespaces are now obsolete following the release of the new version of the EPP server on July 4, 2012. We therefore remind you, that the namespaces that must be indicated in the "Login" request are: extepp-2.0 and extdom-2.0 and that the extdom-1.0 namespace must be substituted with the extdom-2.0 namespace also in the Transfer/Trade command, precisely in the extension that defines the new Registrant. by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 13 Apr '12

13 Apr '12

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro .it ================================================================================ To all Registrars, we inform you that, on Thursday 19 April, the new section of the .it Registry Web site concerning .it statistics will be published, as anticipated during the annual meeting of the Registry the was held in Pisa on December 1, 2011. The new "Statistics" section contains, at present, the main information about asynchronous and synchronous domain names (new registrations, cancellations, transfers between registrars with or without trade, trades, renewals, and so on). It is possible to drill down information at level of year / month / day and, in case of new registrations and recoveries from redemptionPeriod status, also in terms of hours. All data is updated to the previous day. This section will gradually be updated in order to populate, as quickly as possible, all information concerning registrants and registrars. Purely as an indication, for what concerns registrants, information on their typology and geographic localization (at national level and, for the Italians, even at regional and province level) and information on the types of operations on domain names carried out by them, will be published. For what concerns registrars, information regarding their geographical localization and aggregated information concerning, for example, the types of operations carried out by them according to their nationality, the percentage distribution of domain names between registrars, and so on, will be published. Subsequently, the statistics section will evolve into a true portal dedicated to statistics. And an access section reserved to registrars that contains more specific information about them will also be implemented. Domenico Laforenza =========================================================================== To all Maintainers/Registrars, we would like to inform you once again a great deal of users notices are arriving at the Registry: the users have received some letters from another entity, the so-called "Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese", which, through surface-mail mailings, (seemingly to ask the verifications of the data dealing with user activities) proposes a contract to adhere to in order to receive a service after payment. The Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR that manages the .it Registry is not in the least involved with this initiative and have prepared again the necessary actions to protect any rights that might have been infringed. The Italian Competition Authorities (http://www.agcm.it) has repeatedly issued fines - for analogous initiatives as case in point of misleading messages - against DAD Deutscher Adressdienst. We therefore suggest you to assume the diligent responsibility of informing your clients and giving them adequate information in this regard. [Registrars] [Ticket#2011100350004321] Modifica del sistema di calcolo della soglia di credito del Registrar/Changing the system of calcula [...]
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 03 Ott '11

03 Ott '11

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro .it ================ To all Registrars, in order to calculate the threshold credit, currently , the synchronous system automatically calculates 6 times a day (every 4 hours starting from 3 am) the number of Registrar domain names whose expiry date is foreseen during: - the following three weeks: if the credit does not cover the automatic renewal, the system notifies the Registrar through a message in the polling queue ("Low credit will be reached soon”); - the following week: if the credit does not cover the automatic renewal, the system notifies the Registrar through a message in the polling queue ("Low credit: only auto renew and not billable operations are allowed"), and the Registrar is not allowed to carry out billable operations. When the Registrar credit runs out “Out of funds: only not invoiced operations are allowed”, the system puts the domain names in inactive/notRenewed status. The domain names that are currently taken into account by the system, in order to calculate the threshold credit according to the algorithm defined above, are those in the statuses that follows: - ok and ok/noRegistrar expiring in the next 7 days - inactive/noRegistrar - inactive/notRenewed - pendingDelete/redemptionPeriod. In particular, for the domain names that are in pendingDelete/redemptionPeriod status, currently both the cost of 4,50 euros + VAT for the possible renewal of the domain name and the cost of the "restore from redemptionPeriod" operation, still 4,50 euros + VAT, are taken into account for the calculation of the threshold. Based on an analysis of the statistics of these two years of activity of the synchronous system, it emerged that: - less than the 10% of the domain names that are in ‘redemptionPeriod’ status, are then actually restored by the Registrar; - if a Registrar is under the threshold credit and wishes to restore a domain name, he can make a payment with the credit card on the RAIN-NG portal; - some Registrars requested to reconsider the procedure to calculate the threshold credit by not taking into account the domain names in pendingDelete/redemptionPeriod status. The Registry, based on the above considerations, from Tuesday 4 October, will proceed to change the system of calculating the Registrar threshold credit, by removing from the threshold amount the costs for restoring and renewing the domain names that are in pendingDelete/redemptionPeriod. [Registrars] [Ticket#2011091950009121] IVA al 21%: cosa cambia nella fatturazione dei nomi a dominio .it/21% VAT rate: what changes for .it [...]
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 19 Set '11

19 Set '11

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro .it ========================= Subject: To all Registrars, we inform you that following the approval of the financial bill and consequent entry into force of the 21% VAT rate, from Saturday, September 17, 2011, the .it Registry will apply the following provisions concerning .it domain names invoicing: - all payments that have already been invoiced before midnight of Friday September 16, will maintain the VAT at 20%; - all payments that have not been invoiced before midnight of Friday September 16, will be subject to the 21% VAT. Therefore, cases in which a Registrar has payments with both VAT at 20% and at 21% will be frequent. In such cases, the invoicing system will exhaust first the payments with VAT at 20% and then move on those with VAT at 21%. It is obvious that, in the hypothetical case of pending operations (such as operations in which the charging phase is not contextual to the invoicing phase, but this is only at the completion of the transaction - for example a registrarTrnasfer operation, a renewal of a domain name,...), adjustments concerning the cost of the operation, may be applied according to the VAT, at the conclusion of the operation. We also inform you that, the Billing Information System (SIGLA) managed by the CNR headquarters, is being updated, therefore the .it Registry will not have the possibility of issuing new invoices as long as the CNR does not give notice to the Institutes. In order not to cause any disservice to the Registrars, new payments (bank transfer and credit card ) that which will be invoiced later, will be accepted. Finally, we inform you that today, at 4.30 p.m., a restart of the EPP servers epp.nic.it and epp-deleted.nic.it will take place, in order to minimize any temporary adjustments in the amounts of transactions. [Registrars] [Ticket#2011072150009012] Nuovo servizio Whois via Web / New Whois Service via Web
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 21 Lug '11

21 Lug '11

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro .it To all Maintainers/Registrars, We inform you that on Monday, July 25, a new Whois service accessible via web will come into force and will replace the existing service available at the URL http://www.nic.it/SR. The new service will be in line, for what concern use methods and main functions, with the Whois web services offered by the majority of European and non-European registries. Below you can find the main factors that led to the implementation of the new service: - Asynchronous registration system closure and consequent uselessness of many information currently displayed, such as ''request date'', ''insertion date'', ''last form''; - The need to align the results, returned to the user by the Whois service available on port 43 (whois.nic.it), with those returned by the Whois service via web. In particular, the latter were not aligned in the case of geographical names, reserved , unassignable and domain names in revoked and to-be-reassigned statuses (asynchronous and synchronous). At present the supported languages are Italian and English and the service returns, therefore, results in Italian or English, depending on the language settings of your browser. The service will be available at the following link http://www.nic.it/web-whois. Until the end of August, however, there will be a redirect from http://www.nic.it/SR to http://www.nic.it/web-whois. Kind regards, The .it Registry staff -- .it Registry - Hostmaster of the Day ---------- ------------- .it Registry E-mail: hostmaster(a)nic.it IIT - Istituto del CNR Phone: +39 050 3139811 Via Giuseppe Moruzzi, 1 Fax: +39 050 542420 56124 Pisa - Italy
