23 Ott '26

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro.it <http://registro.it/> ============= To all Registrars, We inform you that today, October 23, 2026, the following new documents have been published in the “Forms and Docs” section of the Registro.it website: - Regulations for the assignment of domain names in the .it ccTLD: https://www.nic.it/sites/default/files/documenti/2026/Regulation_assignatio… - Technical Guidelines: https://www.nic.it/sites/default/files/documenti/2026/Synchronous_Technical… - Whois policy: https://www.nic.it/sites/default/files/documenti/2026/Whois_policy_v.2.3_en… The new documents will come into effect on November 23, 2026, and will be reflected on the Registry’s test platform starting Monday, October 26, 2026. The main changes concern: 1) the elimination of admin and tech contacts throughout all stages of domain name registration and maintenance; 2) the consequent removal of the admin and tech contacts from the Whois visualization; 3) the elimination of the “fax” field within the contact information; 4) the requirement that the “name” field be set to the same value as the “org” field, even for entities other than natural persons. All changes made in the new documents, compared to previous versions, are listed in the "Revisions" section. It should be noted that, given the impact of these changes and the time required for Registrars to update their systems, their implementation will be gradual: - as of November 23, 2026, the following changes will take effect: the removal of the fax field, the requirement that the "name" and "org" fields must match for all registrants, and the removal of "admin" and "tech" contacts from the Whois visualization; - also starting from November 23, 2026, it will be possible to register domain names by providing only the Registrant contact. However, the inclusion of "admin" and "tech" contacts will not result in any errors. To complete the adjustments related to the elimination of admin and tech contacts, a transitional period is in place, which will conclude on February 28, 2027. Therefore, starting from March 1, 2027, all Registrars must have adapted their systems to the new Technical Guidelines. by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 16 Giu '26

16 Giu '26

I ticket saranno assegnati secondo il principio “first come, first served”. Per richiederli, vi invitiamo a scrivere a comunicazione(a)nic.it manifestando il vostro interesse. Vi aspettiamo a Bologna! ************************************************************************* Dear Registrars, We are pleased to inform you that from 24 to 26 June, Registro .it will be present at BolognaFiere to take part in the 2026 edition of We Make Future (WMF). Kind regards, Organizing Secretariat of Registro .it Session abstracts Bologna – WMF – 24 June 2026 Cybersecurity and NIS2: from compliance to European digital resilience Registro .it brings to WMF 2026 a discussion on a highly topical issue for digital sector operators: the NIS2 Directive and the profound changes it will bring to the European cybersecurity framework. With full implementation expected in the second half of October, the NIS2 Directive expands the scope and responsibilities in digital risk management for companies. Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly strategic, introducing stricter obligations on prevention, incident reporting, and management accountability. Cybersecurity no longer concerns only critical infrastructures but becomes a systemic resilience model involving public administrations, companies, and digital operators across the entire value chain, from suppliers to cloud services and infrastructure platforms. This topic will be discussed at the Registro .it space at WMF 2026 (Hall 30, Stand C35-D34) by Andrea Passarella, Director and Head of Registro .it, and Andrea Rigoni, Founder and Managing Partner of Altirium. A public-private dialogue between the digital industry and the domain name ecosystem will explore implementation challenges and innovation opportunities related to NIS2, aiming to understand how compliance can become an enabling factor rather than a mere regulatory obligation. Bologna – WMF – 25 June 2026 From data to strategy: a Study by Registro .it on the future of domain names The evolution of search tools - from AI Overviews to generative AI-based chatbots - is profoundly transforming the way users search for and discover content and services online. This represents an epochal shift affecting all actors with an online presence promoting their activities or selling products. But how does this impact domain names and websites? To analyze these dynamics, Registro .it has launched a strategic study on the positioning of the .it domain, the relationship between digital identity and Made in Italy, and the factors influencing domain registration, usage, or abandonment decisions. During the panel titled “From data to strategy: Registro .it’s study on the future of domain names” (at the Registro .it booth at WMF, Hall 30, Stand C35-D34), Mirko Bruni (CEO of The Fool) will present the ongoing study and the first insights. 08 Mag '26

Cordiali saluti, Lo staff del Registro .it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Registrars, we would like to inform you that the annual Registro-Registrar Meeting, scheduled on 15 May, has been cancelled due to a very low number of registrations. Probably it is due to the current international situation, which is causing uncertainty and potentially leading to higher business travel costs, prompting many companies to drastically cut back on business travels. Following consultation with the Steering Committee of the Registro (CIR), it was deemed appropriate to postpone the event, likely to the end of October 2026. This anniversary celebrates the first Italian connection to the Internet, established on 30 April 1986 by the CNR of Pisa, marking Italy’s entry into the global network. The event, with a high-level scientific and institutional profile, will be attended by local authorities, the President of the CNR, Andrea Lenzi, and numerous representatives from the research and innovation community, with particular expertise in the fields of artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. Forty years after that first historic connection, the Internet has profoundly transformed the way we communicate, work, and conduct research. ************************************************************************** Dear Registrars, as anticipated in the email of last November 12, on December 4 at 5:00 p.m. the second episode of the online event series will be broadcast on the LinkedInpage of Registro .it, titled “Enhancing Made in Italy worldwide: your online strategy for internationalization”. The LinkedIn live series is aimed at professionals as well as owners and employees of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and is part of the social media campaign launched by the Registro .it during the Internet Festival with the first episode titled “‘Smart’ and identity-based domain names, thanks (also) to artificial intelligence”. The upcoming one-hour event will be moderated - as always - by Massimo Fellini (journalist, content creator, and expert in innovation and artificial intelligence), who will be joined by Barbara Carini, Head of News Business at East Media and expert in Far East markets. This second episode will serve as a practical guide for SMEs on how to turn their online presence into a true passport for global growth. The goal: to show how promoting Made in Italy beyond national borders means communicating online with credibility, consistency, and a targeted digital strategy. Key topics will include the website as a genuine international business card, the difference between simple translation and effective cultural localization, and the specific dynamics of non-Google markets such as China and Korea, which require dedicated tools such as streamlined landing pages and local platforms. We will also discuss the most common mistakes that hinder SMEs in export processes, the cultural barriers that slow entry into foreign markets, and how to assess online credibility in a context where AI is changing the way information is searched for and found. All Registrars are invited to participate. We would be pleased to have you among the speakers of the live event. Those interested in participating as speakers in any of the scheduled sessions should contact comunicazione(a)nic.it and attach the Expression of Interest form provided with this email. For each event, the first three Registrars submitting their application will be selected. Please note that any personal data submitted with the Expression of Interest will be processed by Registro .it, in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and current legislation, in its capacity as Data Controller, solely for the purpose of evaluating the speaker candidacy and organising the event. To formalise the Registrar’s participation in the scheduled programme, it is necessary to sign the declaration attached to this document. Below is the calendar of upcoming sessions:(at the end of the email, you will find the full abstract of the December 4 event) - 4 December, 5:00 p.m. Enhancing Made in Italy worldwide: your online strategy for internationalisation - 14 January, 5:00 p.m. AI for SME websites: how to improve productivity and marketing with smart tools - 18 February, 5:00 p.m. Cybersecurity: with NIS2 the rules change Accountability involves everyone, starting with the Board of Directors - 25 March, 5:00 p.m. The new travel agent is an algorithm: but the ticket to trust remains .it Kind regards, Registro .it Organising Secretariat Abstract of the December 4 Episode “Enhancing Made in Italy worldwide: Your Online Strategy for Internationalization” Internationalization is no longer just an ambitious milestone for a few structured companies: today, it is an almost necessary step for many Italian SMEs that want to grow beyond national borders. But doing it effectively requires informed choices, skills, and a credible, consistent digital presence tailored to the target markets. In this workshop, we will guide companies through the challenges and opportunities of bringing Made in Italy to the world through digital channels. We will start from the basics - the website as an international business card, the difference between simple translation and true cultural localization - and move to the specificities of non-Google markets such as China and Korea, where dedicated approaches and tools are needed, from streamlined landing pages to platforms like WeChat. We will address the most common mistakes SMEs make, the cultural resistance that slows export journeys, and the crucial role of professional expertise. We will also discuss how to truly measure online credibility and how visibility in search is changing now that AI - from Gemini to ChatGPT - is reshaping how information is accessed and rewarding updated, authentic, and well-structured content. Through practical advice, concrete examples, and an overview of the technologies reshaping how companies enter new markets, this workshop will offer an operational compass to navigate the process, avoid costly mistakes, and build a solid, strategic, and sustainable international presence. -- .it Registry - Hostmaster of the Day ---------- ------------- .it Registry E-mail: hostmaster(a)nic.it IIT - Istituto del CNR Phone: +39 050 9719811 Via Giuseppe Moruzzi, 1 Fax: +39 050 542420 56124 Pisa - Italy

We will present digital export trends and opportunities, while Registrars will share real-life cases of Italian companies that have strengthened their international identity starting from the web. Session 3 Title: AI for SME websites: how to improve productivity and marketing with smart tools Abstract: Artificial Intelligence can be a practical ally even for small and medium enterprises in managing and growing their websites. Session 4 Title: Cybersecurity: with NIS2 the rules change - Accountability involves everyone, starting with the Board of Directors Abstract: From 16 October 2024, the implementing decree of the NIS2 Directive came into force, redefining cybersecurity responsibilities at the management level. Boards of Directors are now required to ensure governance, risk control, training on cyber threats, reporting procedures, and incident notification. In this LinkedIn Live session, we will explore what this means for Italian companies and public administrations, the steps required to comply by October 2026 at the latest, and how to turn compliance into an opportunity for growth and resilience. Cybersecurity experts, legal professionals, and public sector representatives will analyse together the new rules of the game for a safer, more digital Europe. Session 5 Title: The new travel agent is an algorithm: but the ticket to trust remains .it Abstract: In the new digital tourism ecosystem, Artificial Intelligence is redefining every stage of the travel experience: from destination selection to booking and real-time assistance. AI assistants and conversational platforms are complementing (and in some cases surpassing) traditional OTAs, offering hyper personalised and dynamic experiences. However, in a world where customer touchpoints are increasingly automated, the website remains the identity compass for every destination and operator: a .it domain is a hallmark of trust, proximity, and authenticity for Italian tourism online. This session will explore how AI tools are transforming tourism offerings, how websites and businesses are repositioning relative to major aggregators, and what opportunities exist for those choosing to build their digital presence with a .it domain.

************************************************************************* Dear Registrars, we would like to inform you that the fifteenth edition of the Internet Festival will be held in Pisa from October 9 to 12. It is one of the most highly anticipated national events dedicated to digital culture. As every year, the festival explores key themes related to the internet and delves into its impact on society, engaging experts, students, enthusiasts, and the general public. The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) is a founding partner of the Festival and, through the Institute of Informatics and Telematics (CNR-IIT) - specifically through Registro .it, which is part of the institute - contributes to the organization of events aimed at promoting digital culture for businesses and civil society, in line with its mission to foster digital awareness. This year, Registro .it will once again be participating with two original events included in the official Festival program, both scheduled for October 10 at the former Convento delle Benedettine (« Le Benedettine” Conference Center) in Pisa (further details below). The first event, titled “Influencers & Identity: digital stories of Made in Italy” will take place at 4:00 PM and will be moderated by Giampaolo Colletti (journalist, director of StartupItalia, and correspondent for the TV program XXI Secolo on Raiuno). The session begins with the question “What does it mean to be Italian today?” and focuses on the concept of the “.it Factor,” that unique blend of passion, culture, vision, and style that defines the Made in Italy brand. The event will feature the participation of three digital creators: Barbara De Poli (@mynatane), Alessia Fraioli (@cometicriticolarte), and Sara Piovano (@sarapiovano__). The second event, titled “Smart and identity-driven domain names, thanks (also) to Artificial Intelligence” will be held at 5:00 PM and will be moderated by Massimo Fellini (journalist, content manager, and expert in innovation and artificial intelligence communication). Speakers will include Daniele Chieffi (journalist, reputation manager, founding partner of Bi Wise and CEO of The Magician), Laura Venturini (founder and CEO of Quindo), Donato Molino (President of the Comitato di indirizzo del Registro/Steering Committee of the Registro - CIR and AssoTLD) and Luca Luperini (Elected CIR Member and Head of Hosting and Domains at Aruba.it). The participation of Molino and Luperini stems from the invitation extended by the Registry to the four representatives of the Registrars, elected and appointed within the CIR, as representatives of the entire Registrar community. The second event of the Festival will also be streamed live on LinkedIn and will effectively be the first episode of a series of five monthly LinkedIn live sessions starting from November (except December). This initiative, aligned with the new social campaign by Registro .it, is designed for freelancers and SMEs. We look forward to the participation of the Registrars in each of these sessions: all details about the initiative and participation procedures will be provided in a dedicated follow-up email. Best regards, Organizing Secretariat of the Registro .it “Influencers & Identity: digital stories of Made in Italy” – October 10, 4:00 PM – “Le Benedettine” Conference Center, Piazza S. Paolo a Ripa D'Arno, 16 – Pisa Moderator: Giampaolo Colletti (journalist, director of StartupItalia, and correspondent for the TV program XXI Secolo on Raiuno) Italian identity is expressed in many forms: from tourism to cuisine, from craftsmanship to fashion, from art to entrepreneurship. In each of these, we find the essence of what makes us recognizably Italian around the world. Within this context, three digital creators - Barbara De Poli (@mynatane), Alessia Fraioli (@cometicriticolarte), and Sara Piovano (@sarapiovano__) - will share their experiences, describing how they convey and promote Italian identity through digital communication, community building, and the creation of original content. This will be an informal and inspirational moment aimed at young people, businesses, and enthusiasts, placing Italian identity at the center as a means of standing out and generating value online. “Smart and identity-driven domain names, thanks (also) to Artificial Intelligence” – October 10, 5:00 PM – “Le Benedettine” Conference Center, Piazza S. Paolo a Ripa D'Arno, 16 – Pisa Moderator: Massimo Fellini (journalist, content manager, and communicator specializing in innovation and artificial intelligence) This session will discuss how AI is already transforming the way we choose, build, and enhance domain names, which are no longer mere web addresses but strategic elements of brand identity. Thanks to generative AI, it is now possible to analyze trends, linguistic combinations, and search intent to identify effective keywords and generate tailored suggestions aligned with brand values and goals. The event will also address the key criteria for building a strong online identity, including brevity, memorability, brand protection, and digital reputation, illustrating how a carefully chosen domain name can enhance visibility, SEO, and conversion rates. This will be a valuable opportunity to reflect on how AI, when used effectively and creatively, is redefining the future of digital identity.

[Ticket#2025040950002174] Nuovo contratto e formato PDF/A - New contract and PDF/A format
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 09 Apr '25

09 Apr '25

Best regards, lo staff del Registro .it ============ To all Registrars, we ask for your attention for a particular and delicate step at the moment of signing the acceptance of the new Registrar contract. After generating the PDF/A via the dedicated form on the Registry website, before signing it with the PADES digital signature, we ask you to check that your signature program is configured to preserve the PDF/A format when applying the signature. This is because in some signature programs this setting is not predefined and when the contractual acceptance is digitally signed the document is altered and no longer maintains the PDF/A format. As is known, the law requires that only documents in PDF/A format be sent for long-term storage. Furthermore, in order to verify that the document generated by the online form has not been altered, we ask you to sign this document and send it to us without having made any changes to it. The document generated by the online form contains, in fact, an attachment generated by the system that must not be deleted. Finally, we ask you not to send the signed contractual acceptances in response to this email, but to use the traditional channels that have been communicated to you, i.e. via PEC (only for Italian Registrars) to the address registro(a)pec.nic.it, or via email to the address hostmaster(a)nic.it.
