[Registrars] [Ticket#2017051650003253] Sperimentazione DNSSEC nel .it: avvio Fase 2 / Testing in the .it: beginning of Phase 2
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 16 Mag '17

16 Mag '17

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro.it =============================================================================== To all Registrars, this is to inform you that on next Monday May 22, the phase 2 of DNSSEC testing in the .it, will start. We remind you that this phase foresees that a Registrar transmits to the Registro.it, via EPP, DS record/s information associated to a digitally signed domain name and consequently the Registro.it will verify the correct configuration of the authoritative name servers of such domain name. This transmission takes place concurrently with the registration of a “signed” domain (through an EPP Domain Create operation) or a subsequent modification (addition, removal or replacement of a DS record through the EPP Domain Update operation). Besides, we remind you that, the new name servers verification tool, which also allows DNSSec domain name validation, is available on the test platform at the link http://dns-check.pubtest.nic.it/. More information on the architectural specifications of the Registro.it test platform and the main operations and technical configurations to be performed by a Registrar in order to participate in phase 2 testing, are listed in the document attached to this document. The English version of this document will be available soon. PLEASE NOTE 1) We remind you that in order to be enabled to test the DNSSEC functionality in the test environment, the Registrar must send a request to hostmaster(a)nic.it with Subject: “DNSSEC accreditation in test environment”. Only after it has been explicitly authorized by the Registro.it, the Registrar will have the possibility to register and modify, via EPP, digitally signed domain names, making use of secDNS-1.1 extensions and extsecDNS-1.0 (which will have to be specified during the login operation). The Registrar will be able to verify its DNSSEC activation status through the RAIN-NG test portal (https://rain.pubtest.nic.it) in the upper right panel containing the Registrar information. 2) If, during phase 2 of testing, a Registrar wishes to use a Registro.it "recursive resolver” (nsresolv.pubtest.nic.it) in the test platform, it will have to send a request to hostmaster(a)nic.it with the following Subject: “IP to be used in nsresolv.pubtest.nic.it”, indicating the IP addresses of the machines from which the Registrar will perform the DNS queries. Best regards, the Registro.it staff -- .it Registry - Hostmaster of the Day ---------- ------------- .it Registry E-mail: hostmaster(a)nic.it IIT - Istituto del CNR Phone: +39 050 9719811 Via Giuseppe Moruzzi, 1 Fax: +39 050 542420 56124 Pisa - Italy

[Registrars] [Ticket#2016120750001895] Attivazione DNSSEC sulla piattaforma di test/ DNSSEC activation on the test platform
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 07 Dic '16

07 Dic '16

To all Registrars, this is to inform you that on Monday December 12, the new EPP server that has the functionalities needed for registration/modification of digitally signed domain names (DNSSEC enabled), will be available on the test platform. DNSSEC testing in the .it public test environment will occur according to the following two main steps: - Step 1: Registration and modification of digitally signed domain names through the functionalities of EPP protocol. This phase foresees that a Registrar transmits to the Registro.it, via EPP, DS record/s information associated to a digitally signed domain name. This transmission takes place concurrently with the registration of a “signed” domain (through an EPP Domain Create operation) or a subsequent modification (addition, removal or replacement of a DS record through the EPP Domain Update operation). This phase does not foresees any verification by the Registro.it, of the correct configuration of the authoritative name servers digitally signed of the domain name. - Step 2: DNSSEC Verification This phase is similar to Phase 1, but foresees by the Registro.it, the verification of the correct configuration of the authoritative name servers of the digitally signed domain name. PLEASE NOTE In order to be enabled to test the DNSSEC functionality in the test environment, the Registrar must send a request to hostmaster(a)nic.it with Subject: “DNSSEC accreditation in test environment”. As a result, the Registrar will have the possibility to register and modify, via EPP, digitally signed domain names, making use of secDNS-1.1 extensions and extsecDNS-1.0 (which will have to specify when to login operation). The Registrar can check its DNSSEC activation status through the RAIN-NG test portal (https://rain.pubtest.nic.it), in the top-right panel that contains the details of the Registrar. Phase 1 has a duration of approximately one month and a half (until end-January 2017), while Phase 2 will begin at the beginning of February 2017 and will end after about three months (until the end of April 2017). We remind you also that on the test platform, at the following the http://dns-check.pubtest.nic.it/ link the new system of control of the name server configuration, which also permits the validation of DNSSEC names domain, is available. More information on the implementation choices of DNSSEC in .it are listed in the document attached to this document, and at the following link: https://epp-doc.nic.it/ user: tester pw: testepp Kind regards, the Registro.it staff -- .it Registry - Hostmaster of the Day ---------- ------------- .it Registry E-mail: hostmaster(a)nic.it IIT - Istituto del CNR Phone: +39 050 9719811 Via Giuseppe Moruzzi, 1 Fax: +39 050 542420 56124 Pisa - Italy

[Registrars] [Ticket#2016080550008319] Nuovo sistema di validazione DNS/New DNS validation system
by Registrars which have drawn up a contract with the ccTLD .it Registry 05 Ago '16

05 Ago '16

Cordiali saluti, lo staff del Registro .it ==================================================== To all Registrars, we inform you that on the test platform, at the URL http://dns-check.pubtest.nic.it/, a new nameserver validation system, DNSSec enabled, is available. Main DNSSec functionalities and configuration checks are the following: a) it is possible to enable the DNSSec validation to check a domain name; b) if the DNSSec validation is enabled, it is possible to specify a DS record in roder to verify its correctness compared to the KSK key(s) contained in the domain name zone (see also the following point d)); c) it verifies which nameservers are replying to the DNSKEY query; d) it verifies the correctness of the DS Records compared to the keys contained in the zone; e) it verifies the correctness of the signature of the DNSKEY records; f) it verifies the correctness of the signature of the SOA record; g) it verifies the correctness of the signature of the NS records. The system currently allows the validation of .it and other extensions domain names. In order to verify the DNSSec validation of .it domain names, it is necessary to create the domain name zone, sign it, generate the DS records, configure at least two athoritative nameservers and specify in the tool the domain name, the authoritative nameservers names, their IPs and the DS record. At the beginning of September, the test platform will be provided also with the functionality of sending, by EPP, the <secDNS:dsData> section containing information on the DS records of the domain names signed.
